Road Loans - Fraudulent

Roadloans pulled my credit report with no authorization from me. I did not apply for a loan or cosign for a loan, ANY type of loan. I called and spoke with a customer service rep. I explained the situation and when her search for an application was unsuccessful, she transferred me to her supervisor, who was also unable to locate an application. He suggested I contact their legal dept.

Over the next week, I placed several calls to their legal dept, with no return call. Finally, I called Roadloans back and spoke with another supervisor, who was also unable to locate an application. She said she would inquire about the delay and get back to me. I finally received a call from their legal dept. Once again, no application could be located. I asked if they could please send a letter to the credit bureau, requesting that the inquiry be removed. They flat-out refused, saying that with no application on file, they had no authorization to access my report, and they cannot send out a form letter without an application. Coming from their legal dept, I was appalled at that answer. If you can’t send out a form letter in this situation, then under what circumstances do you send a form letter? I asked this exact question and all they said was that they couldn’t help unless there was an application on file. I then placed a call to the credit bureau and I spoke with a supervisor, who informed me that without a letter from the creditor, this inquiry cannot be removed. I have since left several messages for Roadloans' legal dept, but no one is returning my call.

I’ve done some research on this company and I’ve found many, many complaints, 3 of which are from the Better Business Bureau, that are similar in nature to mine, in terms of their questionable acts, horrible customer service and basic unwillingness to right their wrongs. Terms such as fraudulent, deceptive and bogus company were used to describe them. I don’t know how Roadloans got my information, but they clearly pulled my credit report in error, or perhaps illegally, but either way, it’s their responsibility to make it right. And it appears that they have no intentions of doing so.

An epidemic of attempted home loan fraud is sweeping the country as the credit crunch lingers on. By educating themselves about loan fraud, borrowers can recognize it and resist getting involved. Home loan fraudulence can reap painful punishment within the form of prison and punitive fines.
